| Name of Group: | Westfield Wanderer's FC | Westfield
football club was founded in 1980. It is a true community club and has
over 200 local children involved in football ranging from 5 - 18 years
old. We pride ourselves on welcoming boys and girls into our teams of all
abilities, not just the elite, giving everybody a chance to play. There
are nearly 50 regular volunteers giving their time and effort to the club
and the local community.
The club has 14 girls and boys teams under 18 taking part in local league competition as well as nationwide tournaments. In the past season we have been fortunate enough to be winners at both levels in a variety of age groups. The club provides the opportunity through these events for the players to learn and improve their concept and undertstanding of many aspects of life such as commitment, discipline, teamwork, reponsibility and experience social interaction with both their peers and others from different backgrounds and areas. Everyone in the club is encouraged to aspire to be successful in all that they attempt, but that it is important also to enjoy and be proud of their effort and the attitude they show in their attempts to improve and that success and achievement is to be found on many different levels. | How the group began: | The club was founded in 1990 in partnership with WCC. 1991 - 1992 the club entered a U12s and a U10s team in the Leicester Leagues. Season 2001 - 2002 the club is close to applying to the FA charter standard for junior football club which is awarded to clubs with qualified staff, child protection policy, anti discrimination policy etc. | ||
